The world is changing and taking payments directly from your mobile phone may become the future of commerce…
If you want to build a mobile business and be able to take payments from anywhere anytime, you should consider seriously mobile payments. It allows you or your employees to process credit card payments in store or on the go.
Mobile payment systems have become cheap lately compared to traditional card reader machines or online payment solutions. As a small business you could certainly afford to go mobile now when it comes to accepting payments.
There are several mobile payment solutions out there including Obopay, Intuit GoPayment, Swipe, Square, and PAYware Mobile that offer similar services.
I personally like Square because their business model is simple. They charge a flat rate of 2.75% per transaction for all cards and both the software and the card reader come for free. They automatically direct the deposits the next day to your account, however for payments over $1000 it may take up to 30 days to be deposited into your account. Their card reader and software are supported on iPhone, Android, and iPad devices.
It may be be a worthwhile though to check the other mobile payment solutions to see if they are more suitable for your business.
While processing transactions using a mobile device makes sense for merchants, it certainly raises concerns for consumers especially when it comes to safety. But we have to wait and see whether mobile payments become “mainstream”.
The bottom line is this: The world is becoming mobile so should be your business!
